Travis J. Dodson, 75, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his residence. Travis, the son of the late Homer A. and Bessie A. Wilburn Dodson, was born March 18, 1942 in Marston, Mo. Travis J. Dodson, 75, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his residence.

Travis, the son of the late Homer A. and Bessie A. Wilburn Dodson, was born March 18, 1942 in Marston, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired truck driver with Penske Trucking Company, was a farmer and worked as a transport driver with the Family Counseling Center. He proudly served his country from 1961 to 1963 in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Bluff City Eagles No. 3730, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Travis enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his great-grandson McKade and visiting with his friends and fellow farmers to discuss crops and other agriculture issues.

On May 8, 1964, he married the former Georgia Kalkbrenner in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death, Jan. 11, 2005.

Survivors include two daughters: Tracie Austin and Misty Dodson of Poplar Bluff; a granddaughter, Meighan (Jacob) Redden; a great-grandson, McKade Redden; two sisters: June Eddings of Wappapello and Doris Gregg of Parma; and two brothers: Bennie Dodson of Dayton, Iowa and Homer Dewayne Dodson of Tallapoosa, Mo.

Travis was also preceded in death by a grandson, a son-in-law, a sister and seven brothers.

The visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. With the funeral service following at 2 p.m. The Rev. Calvin Buhler will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley.
