Theresa Beth Sanders Monroe, 62, formerly of Fisk, Missouri passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at her residence in Fort Myers, Florida.
She was born at St. Francis Memorial Hospital on December 15th, 1954 to Selton and Marcelle Sanders in Cape Girardeau. She graduated from Twin Rivers High School in 1972 and later studied biology and math at Arkansas State University.
In 1977, she started a long career at the postal service, first in Naylor, Missouri then Salem, Missouri. In additional to working for the postal service she was heavily involved in her communities, union, and state board. She started the Doniphan Schools PTA, was an EMT for seven years, substitute teacher, and post office trainer for new employees. After retirement from the United States Postal Service she became a very successful realtor in southwest Florida where she continued her community involvement as the President of condo association and an avid gardener and homemaker. She felt that her most important achievement though, was being the mother of her two boys. She married Jerry Monroe on November 19th, 2005.
Theresa is survived by her spouse, Jerry Monroe of Fort Myers, Florida; her two sons, Dennis Moore II and wife Julie of St. Charles, Missouri, and Brian Moore of Portland, Oregon; two step-children, Tracy Cruz and husband Ray, Sarah Moran and husband Kris, and Clifford Monroe all of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Aubrey and Evan Moore; three step-grandchildren Avery and Adrian Cruz, and Delilah Monroe; six sisters, Martha Lalk, Nancy Matchett, Jayne Robinson, Judy Jackson, Lois Fields, Lynda Holder; four brothers, Billy Sanders, Jerry Sanders, Nathan Sanders, and Terry Sanders; and several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James Neal and Pete Sanders.
Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12 at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff located at 1100 Iron Bridge Road.
A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following visitation at 11 a.m. in the Moore Funeral Service Chapel.
