Suzanne “Sue” Reneé (Fusco) Smialek Stacy departed for her next adventure Sunday, June 19, 2022. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 26, 1947, to Madge Emily “Mickie” (Bussart) and Salvatore Roy Fusco, and was a resident of Ellington, Missouri at the time of her passing.

The 75 years between were lived to the fullest “making memories”, she said. She enjoyed activities focused on fun or celebration, and hobbies which revolved around social interaction. From her citizens band (C.B.) handle “Snow Fox” in her younger days, she became “Snofox 47” online to stay in touch with Chicago area friends after relocating to Missouri. Her free spirit and contagious enthusiasm for life attracted people who became dear friends, but it was her compassion which ultimately earned her the moniker she treasured most: “Mama Sue”.

Sue will reunite in perpetual light with her parents and older brother Salvatore “Butch” Fusco, but she will be deeply missed by Stephen “Stace” Stacy, her soul mate, as well as her son, Daniel Thomas Smialek, daughter Keri Anne Smialek (Greg Walling), and daughters Alison Smialek, Amy Stacy, Alicia (Marc) Brown, and Misty (Rob) Polys. Anyone visiting Sue’s social media pages would see that few people were prouder of their grand-children: Dalton Kristopher-Pierce Whelden, Sophia Elle Smialek, Layla Brown, Conner Brown, and Venson Stacy. Sue was incredibly close to her cousin, Carolyn (Fusco) Fitzgerald who she considered a sister, and family friend, Jennifer Korycki, who she considered a daughter.

In keeping with tradition, it was Sue’s final wish that no formal or somber memorial service be held, but rather a “Celebration of Life” (date: to be determined). If asked why she called for a party instead of a funeral, she would probably say “because I can”.
