Steve Scott, 48, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died at his home Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Poplar Bluff.
Steve was born April 17, 1969 in Dallas Texas to Jean Slaughter. He graduated from Twin Rivers High School in 1987. He married his high school sweetheart, Shannon Belew, Sept. 1, 1989 in Poplar Bluff.
He was a lifelong resident of Broseley and the Poplar Bluff area. Steve loved deer hunting, boating, swimming in Black River, and working on old trucks. He loved to take his dogs, Hank and Annie, for an evening run around the farm.
Steve especially enjoyed spending time with his closest friends, "making the circle" with Kenny Roy, drinking a cold one with DeWayne and David, and hanging out on Hamtown Road with the Douglas Crew.
Steve is survived by his wife of 28 years, Shannon; his son, Kody Belew Scott of Glenn Carbon, Ill. and daughter Kelci Scott, of Springfield, Mo.; his parents, Bill and Jean Slaughter of Ellsinore, Mo.; two brothers, James Scott Jr. (Sales) of Ellsinore, and Chris Slaughter (Rhonda) of Dexter, Mo.; one sister, Rhonda (Joe) Innuragurro of Dallas, Texas; one step-brother, Jeff Slaughter, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a step-sister, Dina Slaughter of Dallas; father-in-law, Gale Belew of Poplar Bluff; two sisters-in-law, Heather Easterday (George) and Jami Belew, both of Poplar Bluff; nine nephews, Wyatt Easterday, Tucker Ham, Hunter Ham, Slater Ham, James Scott Jr., Phillip Scott, John Reid, Cory Scott, and Nathan Scott; four nieces, April Lozano, Briana Scott, Jaden Scott, and Kristin Slaughter. He is also survived by a host of great-nieces, nephews, and cousins, and the Hobbs Brothers with whom he grew up.
The family would really like to hear friends and family share a special memory about their times with Steve. They would love to hear everyone speak and share those times at the celebration of life. If you would prefer not to speak, please feel free to write it down and someone else will share.
Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. in the chapel.
