Shauntae Michelle (Laird) Kurney, age 48 of Arlington, Texas passed away on Sept. 25, 2019 at her home with her family at her side. She was born on April 5, 1971 in Pine Bluff, Ark., the daughter of Roy Charles Laird, Jr. and Vernestine Greer. Shaunte attended first through twelfth grades at poplar Bluff Schools and later attended Northwest Missouri State University, where she met William Kurney Jr. two years later, they were married, celebrating twenty-seven years of marriage.
She was known for her kind and compassionate spirit, her quick wit and her infectious smile. These traits served her well as she was in the hotel industry working as a supervisor, assistant manager and manager. She also worked as a realtor for Coldwell Banker. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her dedication to Cancer Ribbon Blues, and her beautiful voice and singing.
Shauntae is survived by her husband, Will; daughters, Paige Kurney, Nicole Kurney; son William Kurney III of Arlington,Texas; her mother, Vernestine Bounds Kennedy of Poplar Bluff; sister, Monica A. Bounds of Glen Burnie, Md. ; and brother, Victor Pierre Bounds II of Poplar Bluff.
Shauntae was preceded in death by her biological father, Roy Charles Laird, Jr. and her stepfather, Victor P. Bounds; her grandparents, Royal Charles Laird Sr., Gloria Laird, McKinley Greer, Rev. Johnnie J. Bounds and Sadie Bounds.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, Oct 19 in the chapel at Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge Road, Poplar Bluff.
A service celebrating Shauntae’s life will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tommy Robinson officiating.
