Sandy Nunley, 71, died Sunday Oct. 8, 2017, in Poplar Bluff.
She was born March 1, 1946, in Poplar Bluff to Millard Thomas and Melba Nadine (Warren) Gilliam. She spent most of her life in Poplar Bluff, graduating from Poplar Bluff High School in 1964.
Sandy was a determined woman who returned to college later in life and received an Associate of Arts degree from Three Rivers College in 1981. She continued her education at Southwest Missouri State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1983. While there she was an active member of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity.
Two of her greatest loves were nature and art. She enjoyed watching birds in her backyard and travelling the country. She painted nature scenes and visited many art museums.
Sandy was a member of the Fisk Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in vacation Bible school and drama productions.
On June 18, 1993, Sandy married Everett H. Nunley, who preceded her in death, March 23, 2015.
She is survived by two children: Wendy Lynn Meade (Darcy) of Warsaw, Ind., and Jay Warren (Candace) of Poplar Bluff; and by her sister, Carol Gilliam Green, of Topeka, Kan. She has six grandchildren: Joshua (Kate), Brittany, and Sarah Meade as well as Jackson, Harrison, and Lincoln Warren. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, ElliAnna Meade and Callen Barber.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Fisk Presbyterian Church. A private family burial will be held at Marble Hill Cemetery.
