Ruth Elizabeth Harris, 91, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., entered the arms of Jesus Christ Feb. 26, 2020, at Poplar Buff Regional Hospital.
Ruth was the daughter of the late David and Daisy Fann. She was born on Dec. 10, 1928. She graduated from nursing school in 1970. Her career as an LPN included at Lucy Lee Hospital, Doctor’s Hospital, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, and she retire in 1993 from the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Poplar Bluff. She was also a lifelong member of the Rebecca’s and a member of Twin Springs Baptist Church. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and was loved by them all. She was the original owner of the Ruth Harris Subdivision here in Poplar Bluff. When questioned if she was that, “Ruth Harris,” she would always smile and say, “yes, I am.”
On Nov. 28, 1946, she married Robert E. Harris in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1957, along with her son, Robert E. Harris Jr.
Surviving are three daughters, Nancy Sefers, Margaret Armstrong and Donna (Rob) Callahan, all of Poplar Bluff.
Ruth also have five surviving grandchildren, Scott Sefers (Sue) of Hermitage, Tenn., Heather Stonestreet (Michael) of Bolivar, Mo., Chris Armstrong of Poplar Bluff, Lance Callahan, (Hillary) of Ozark, Mo., and Justin Armstrong of Poplar Bluff. Also. including five great-grandchildren, Samuel Sefers, Andrea Armstrong, Madelyn Armstrong, Katherine Stonestreet and Sadie Callahan.
Ruth was very blessed to come from a large family with four surviving brothers, Art Fann, David Fann, Richard Fann and Frank Fann; five surviving sisters, Virginia Estill, Judy Pinion, Joyce Pinion, Margaret Pennington and Violent Desha. Proceeding her in death were two brothers, Oscar Fann, Ray Fann and four sisters, Carolyn Louise Fann, Jessie Fann, Sharon Sayler, Edna Hastings and Irene Shriver and two sons-in-law Loyd Sefers and James Armstrong.
Visitation will be from noon - 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Frank Cotrell Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donny Emmons officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff.
