PUXICO, Mo. -- Ruth A. Doublin, 78, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at the Puxico Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Puxico. Ruth was a longtime resident and businesswoman in Puxico.

Ruth, daughter of the late Wilber Fortner and Glena Atherton Fortner, was born on March 27, 1939, near Bloomfield. She was a graduate of Bloomfield High School. After graduation, she worked for a time in St. Louis before settling in Puxico to marry the love of her life, Jack Doublin April 18, 1958. Ruth and Jack nearly reached 60 years together. In those 60 years, on all but 45 days, they were together.

Of all the acomplishments in her life Ruth was most proud of the time she served as an EMT for the Stoddard County Ambulance Service in Puxico and of her time served as a Treasurer and Board Member of the Puxico School Board. Ruth knew the importance of a good education and wanted that, not only for her own children and grandson, but for all the children in the Puxico School District.

Ruth and Jack were longtime owners of Lynn Gas Company and B & M Auto Parts and Supplies for over 40 years. Ruth was proud to say she was from Puxico and loved and supported the Puxico Community until her passing.

Ruth and Jack are the proud parents of two daughters: Dana McCallister and Paula Doublin of Allen, Texas. Now living in Qulin, Dana and her husband Mark McCallister have raised a son, Ryan Andrew McCallister who is the light of his grandparent's eyes. Ruth is also survived by a number of nieces, and nephews, cousin, and dear friend.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded by her sister, Annis Fortner of Dexter.

In celebration of Ruth's life family and friends are invited to Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, for visitation from noon - 1 p.m., Tuesday Nov.14, 2017; the funeral will begin at 1 p.m. The Reverend Ray Placher of Puxico, Missouri will lead the celebration. Burial in Puxico Cemetery will follow.
