Ruth Ann Anthony-Hunot was born on the 29th of January 1947, the youngest of eight children born to Frank and Stella Anthony. Her love of family was only matched by her love of life, every day was an adventure. Ruth Ann had an exuberance for life, a quick smile, amazing laugh, and a sparkle in her eyes that would draw people to her.

She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who was always generous, kind and never judged. She had more friends than most, all of whom considered her their best friend. They will remember her love, laughter, and her famous parties.

One of her homes was affectionately called the “14th street country club” by all her family and friends that she entertained there. The pool in the back yard was huge, surrounded by BBQ grills and plenty of tables and chairs to entertain everyone she loved. All were welcome, Ruth Ann’s home was your home.

And in Ruth Ann’s home, the music was on! Her enthusiasm for Motown’s The Supremes, 70’s rock like Lynyrd Skynyrd and country music like Little Big Town would draw you in and she’d have you singing along with her. If she was just cooking in the kitchen or road tripping, the music was on and she was singing and you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Ruth Ann had a real knack for making you feel right at home. Part of that was due to her amazing home cooked meals. If she was feeding you a hearty breakfast, she was already fussing over what she was going make you for lunch. And if you were lucky enough to stay for dinner, she was probably going make you one of her amazing pies too!

You may remember her from her hair salon, Beauty Hut. When she was doing hair, making you feel your best, she was at her best. Her salon was her “happy place” where she could set the tone to friendship, laughter and a rocking soundtrack. Even after retiring, she would continue to cut hair for family and friends. For weddings, special occasions or because you needed it. It was just another way that she would show you she loved you.

After she retired, she as able to focus on what mattered most to her in this world: her family. She was able to dote and care for every member of her family like only she could. Focusing on them as much as they needed, as much as she wanted. She was infamous for telling her loved ones “how cute” they were, followed by a sweet pinch on the cheek. She left no doubt about how she felt about them. Day or night, they all knew they could call her or just drop by unannounced, no matter what was happening in their lives she was there, to listen, laugh with them, never judge them, she loved them for exactly who they were. They knew she was always their biggest supporter.

Ruth Ann was legendary for her beauty sleep, which often last well after noon. She was also legendary for taking hours to get all dolled up but when she did, it was worth the wait. She always looked amazing! Perfect hair, perfect makeup, an amazing outfit, that amazing smile and twinkle in her eye. She was always game for anything! Always had a bag packed ready for a road trip, quick trip to the casinos or a cruise. If you wanted to go shopping, Ruth Ann was your partner in crime! She loved antiquing with her granddaughters, bargain hunting with her son, and shopping for her great grandchildren. She just loved the time it gave her to be with her family and friends.

Ruth Ann passed away unexpectedly in the beautiful home she so adored on 12-22-21, at the age of 74.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Frank and Stella Anthony, her husband, Jack Hunot, her siblings Junior Anthony, Mary Dell Anthony Carlson, Frank Anthony, and Louise Pinkerton.
