Ruth Linnell Anderson, 88, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021. She was born July 7, 1932 in Poplar Bluff to the late Elonzo Edward and Mildred Ruth (Simpson) Brown. She was of the Methodist faith. She married the love of her life, Jesse O’gene Anderson, July 23, 1949 in Piggott, Arkansas. ...

Ruth Linnell Anderson, 88, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021. She was born July 7, 1932 in Poplar Bluff to the late Elonzo Edward and Mildred Ruth (Simpson) Brown. She was of the Methodist faith.

She married the love of her life, Jesse O’gene Anderson, July 23, 1949 in Piggott, Arkansas. She kept a loving home and cared for her family. Ruth was a woman never satisfied to sit still. She was involved with the Good Hope United Methodist Women & Cane Creek Home Extension Club, she was a talented quilter, flower gardener, canning foods of all types, fishing and watching a good Cardinal game. Her most treasured love was her friends, family and caring for the grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by one son, Donald Gene Anderson (Mary) and one daughter, Janet M. Gilmore (Stanley deceased), all of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Damon E. Brown of St. Peters, Missouri; two sisters, Vera M. Hacker of Rock Hill, Missouri and Lena C. Cook of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Kirk Weatherford (Karla), Daniel Anderson (Stacy) and Michael Anderson, all of Poplar Bluff; 11 great-grandchildren, Cara Jolly (Brandon), John Zigler, Colten, Baily, Matthew, Madison, Caleb, Chace, Caden and Casyn Anderson and Nicole Weatherford and two great-great-grandchildren, AddiLynn and Brayden Jolly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Dennis E. Brown, Doyle E. Brown and DeVaughn E. Brown and one sister, Nina M. Sanguinetti.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 22 at 10 a.m. in the Fitch-Hillis Chapel. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Shiela Boyles as speaker. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Social distancing and masks are recommended.
