Robert Gene Scott, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Gene was born Jan. 16, 1938 the son of Charley and Ruby (Kearbey) Scott. On June 5, 1961, he married Gladys Charline (Dorris) Scott in Poplar Bluff, together they shared over 60 years of marriage.
Gene served in the Army during his younger years. He later became a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post 29. Gene was dedicated to his work at 1st Community Bank where he later retired. He also had a true passion for country music. He was well known for singing and playing his guitar as he traveled the area playing events for many. Gene was a true outdoorsman, loved to hunt, fish and camp surrounded by his family and friends. He enjoyed feeding and watching the deer in the evenings from his carport. Gene was a loving husband and a kind friend to all.
Gene is survived by his spouse, Gladys Scott; one sister, Wilma Rains of Poplar Bluff; one brother-in-law, Ray Dorris of East Prairie, and many nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Sherman Scott, Charles Jr. Scott, Ronald Scott, Harvey Scott and one sister Pauline Rains.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 12, 2022 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Reverend Brian Sharp officiating.
