Robert O'Dell McGath, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. McGath, the son of the late Rollie L. and Martha Evaline Miller McGath, was born May 11, 1930 in Hayti, Mo. He was a member of Westside Church of God and attended Palace of Praise. Mr. McGath proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a proud member of the AMVETS. He enjoyed spending time with his family and woodworking.
He married Bettie Dorris Howard on June 17, 1950. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2005. On May 26, 2007, he married Cora M. Deford Taylor. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Ronald Keith McGath of La Mirada, Calif.; a brother, Raymond Lloyd McGath; and two sisters, Thelma Imogene Vines and Martha LaVerne Seiber.
Mr. McGath also was preceded in death by a son Robert Howard McGath, a brother Rollie L. McGath, Jr. and a sister Margie J. Gray.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. Bishop Kent Miller will officiate. Interment with full military honors will be in the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
