Robert “Rob” Miller Hentz, 60, of O’Fallon, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

Rob was born on Feb. 20, 1960, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to the late William G. Hentz and Raona Miller Hentz Nilsson. He was the oldest of their seven children. Rob graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1978 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Media Studies from Southeast Missouri State University in 1983. He then attended the University of Central Missouri where he enjoyed playing rugby and was eventually employed as an admissions recruiter. For the past 16 years, Rob has been employed at BJC HealthCare where he most recently served as Senior Marketing Coordinator for Web Services.

The essence of Rob was a generous love of family and a sharp sense of humor. First and foremost, he was a proud father dedicated to the well-being of his boys. They were the greatest joy of his life and he loved and adored them every day. He also enjoyed the large and raucous Hentz family vacations where he was an exceptional master of ceremonies, videographer, storyteller, chauffeur, and pool lifeguard. Rob is survived by three sons, Caden L., Springfield, Mo., Jacob R. and Rory J., O’Fallon, Mo.; his siblings, Kurt A. (Sara) Hentz, Frontenac, Mo., Kathryn E. “Kate” Hentz, Sugar Grove, Ill., Rory W. Hentz, Bismarck, N.D., Kristen Hentz Doepke, St. Louis, Mo., and Shannon Hentz Kieny, Park Ridge, Ill.; and numerous other relatives as well as a host of close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Rick A. Hentz; his maternal grandparents, Ebon A. and Naomi G. McCallister; and paternal grandparents Dennis and Frances Hentz.

Rob will be missed, but never forgotten, by all of us whose lives he has touched forever.

The family will receive friends at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Baue Funeral Home, 3950 W. Clay, St. Charles, MO 63301. A service in celebration of Rob’s life will immediately follow at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Rob may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
