Robert Martin

Robert H. Martin, 80, of Carlyle, Illinois, passed away at his home Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020.

Mr. Martin was born in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Oct. 25, 1940, a son of William V. and Nettie (Mitchell) Martin. He married his sweetheart, Gloria Bell, in Poplar Bluff Jan. 2, 1985, and she survives in Carlyle. Bob was Dad to Joy DeAnne, Veronica Joyce (Dennis), and Jennifer Jill (Jon); and granddad to Roben DeAnne (Blake); a brother of Helen Kirby, Lillian Jameson, Carleen Vincent, and Lorene Miller; and an in-law of Lloyd and Jeanne, Floyd and Sue, Niece, Jane, Shirley and Don, Roxy and Larry, Michael, and Gary and Peggy.

Bob served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He enlisted in the Air National Guard and served 25 years until his retirement in 1994. Part of his service in the National Guard involved the Mississippi River Flood of 1993. Mr. Martin worked in communications at Scott Air Force Base until his retirement in 2014.
