Richard W. Wright of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020 at his home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Richard was born March 15, 1950 in Broseley, Mo. He married Darlene Pennington on March 9, 1973 in Poplar Bluff.
Richard was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed his church family where he was called “The Quarterman” by all the children who took their quarters to the church candy machine. He also enjoyed going to auctions and helping others, always putting others before himself, visiting and cutting up with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughter, Chastidy Sturgeon of Poplar Bluff; three sisters, Judy (Roy) Cash of Hillsboro, Barb (Larry) Cash of Poplar Bluff, Kay (Darrell) Trout of Fisk; two brothers, Jim (Anne) Cornell of Broseley and JR (Norma) Smith of Poplar Bluff. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Westwood Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. Dr. Steve Proctor will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
