Richard Quay, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Mr. Quay was born, April 07, 1932 in Spring City, Pa., son of the late Ronald and Edna Quay. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After retiring he worked for U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of the Fellowship General Baptist Church and served in various capacities. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW, the Air Force Sergeant's Association, an active member of the MoArk Railroad Museum where he volunteered weekly, and he volunteered to ring the bell every year for the Salvation Army until 2015.

He enjoyed fishing and going to flea markets, yard sales and the sale barn. His passions were fishing, working in his garden and yard work. He also enjoyed traveling nationally and internationally.

On April 05, 1958 he married Mary Ellen Myers in the Sunset Chapel at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash. She survives.

He is also survived by three sons: Mark Quay and wife Jani of Birmingham, Ala., Michael Quay and wife Vigee of Maple Valley, Wash., and Scott Quay and wife Sherri of Saint Charles, Mo.; one brother: Ralph Quay of Spring City, Pa.; one sister: Marie Boettger and husband Ed of Spring City, Pa.; four grandchildren: Nathanael and wife Ellen, Noah and wife Mandi, Grace Wiley and husband Justin, and Nicholas; four great grandchildren: Caedmon, Corawyn, Ransom and Aidan.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 at Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Byron Beck officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Military Honors at Poplar Bluff, Mo.
