Rev. George Smith

Rev. George Waldon Smith, 88, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at Community Compassion Center in Batesville, Ark.

He was born February 22, 1931 in St. Louis. George was a Korean War veteran who served fifteen years in USAF and upon returning, spent twenty seven years as a Southern Baptist pastor in Missouri, Ohio and Illinois.

Mr. Smith lived in Poplar Bluff for twenty years with wife, Mae Smith (deceased). George and Mae had three children, Allen D., Deborah A. (Smith) Stites and Kent L. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

George’s niece Rev. Joyce Curtis will be officiating the graveside service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Cotrell Funeral Service of Poplar Bluff is in charge of arrangements.
