ELLINGTON, Mo. - Polly Jean Ramsey, daughter of the late Pauline Mary Lincoln Crane and Melton W. Wilson was born in Hayti, Missouri, on June 20, 1937. She departed this life for her Heavenly home at Brent B. Tinnin Manor in Ellington, Missouri, on November 23, 2018, at the age of 81.
On April 27, 1955 in Waycross, Georgia, Polly was united in marriage to James Lowell Ramsey and to this union four children were born. She was a born again Christian and she witnessed every time she got a chance to share the love of Jesus. Polly and James attended the Van Buren Assembly of God for many years. After moving to Ellington in 2000 they attended several local churches but found their place at the Centerville Assembly of God. Polly loved birds and flowers, especially Hummingbirds and red roses. And to Polly there was only one color and that was red. She was an amazing cook, after her children were grown she started cooking at Big Springs Restaurant then the Float Stream in Van Buren. She also briefly worked at Piney Woods in Ellsinore. After moving to Ellington she wanted to go back to work so she starting cooking at Queenway and then Hall's Restaurant. Polly loved people and cutting up and having fun, she loved it when people bragged on her cooking. Polly loved going shopping, finding good yard sales, going out to eat and collecting trinkets. Polly loved the Lord first and then her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her battle with dementia didn't allow her to know her great-grandchildren, but she would've been so proud.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Gladys Faye Wilson Smith.
Polly is survived by her husband, James Lowell Ramsey of Ellington, Missouri, three sons, James Lowell "Jim" Ramsey Jr. and wife Karen of Hueytown, Alabama, Barry Ashley Ramsey and wife Mary Ann of Beverly Hills, Florida, Kelly Eric Ramsey and wife Kelly of Bunker, Missouri, one daughter, Dana Hope McSpadden and husband Jeffrey of Ellington, Missouri, four grandchildren, Kourtney McSpadden Green, Chase Ramsey and wife Beth, Barry Ashley Ramsey II and wife Nicole, and Kory Ramsey, three step-grandchildren, Jimmy McSpadden, Nicholas McSpadden and wife Tiffany and Laura McSpadden, and 12 great-grandchildren, one sister, Frances Jones of Seneath, Missouri, and one sister-in-law, Annie G. King of Gainesville, Florida, along with several nieces and a nephew. Polly will be deeply missed by her family and the residents and staff of Brent B. Tinnin Manor.
