Phyllis Hayes Elsworth, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Monday, Sept 12, 2022, at her home in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Elsworth was born Sept. 28, 1945, in Poplar Bluff, to George and Mary “Bobbie” Greer.
She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Poplar Bluff High School. She later went to work as a seamstress at Rowe Furniture. She retired in 2006.
Phyllis had a passion for traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family and two dachshunds.
She was married to Robert Hayes; he preceded her in death in 1984. On Feb 10, 1989, she married Roy Elsworth, and they enjoyed 33 years of marriage together. He survives.
Also surviving are three children: Kay (David) Alford, Lori (Rodney Smith) Jackson, all of Poplar Bluff, Robin Mitchum, of Doniphan, three stepchildren: Angie Birdhand, of Miami, Florida, Michael (Tracy) Elsworth, and Amy Elsworth, all of Tuttle, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Jason Alford, Sherry (Shane) Moss, and children: Jordan, Taylor, and Allyson Moss, all of Poplar Bluff, Joshua Mitchum, of Doniphan, Missouri, Ashlie Patty, and son: Jackson, and his father: John C. Patty, all of Poplar Bluff, and Rayana Elsworth, of Tuttle, Oklahoma; and two sisters: Linda (Raymond) Cruz, of San Antonio, Texas, and Sally Greer, Austin, Texas.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother: David Greer; and one son-in-law: Dan Mitchum.
Memorial services will be at 10: a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff, with Father Samson Dorival officiating. Burial will follow at Hamtown Cemetery.
