FISK, Mo. -- Phyllis Cookson, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 at The Manor in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Cookson was born April 24, 1930 at Qulin, daughter of the late James Clifford and Ethel Campbell. She formerly had been a school teacher and a beautician. She enjoyed listening to books and music and watching TV, especially Cardinal baseball. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends...

FISK, Mo. -- Phyllis Cookson, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Cookson was born April 24, 1930 at Qulin, daughter of the late James Clifford and Ethel Campbell. She formerly had been a school teacher and a beautician. She enjoyed listening to books and music and watching TV, especially Cardinal baseball. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

On July 12, 1957 she married Joseph Thomas Cookson. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1961. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Albert, Buel and Loyce Campbell and five sisters; Joan Swain, Jannette Pogue, Sally Morehead, Zuma Vanderpool and Loraine Webb and a special niece Jeanie Stout.

She is survived by one sister-in-law: Ann Campbell and one brother-in-law: Carl Ray Swain, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Qulin Cemetery at Qulin, Mo.
