VAN BUREN, Mo. — Patricia Anne (Jaco) Pender, daughter to the late Ealie and Flossie (Hearn) Jaco was born on March 12, 1942 in Hornersville, Mo. and departed this life in Van Buren on February 22, 2019 surrounded by her family. She had attained the age of seventy-six years, eleven months, and eleven days.

Patricia had resided the past fifty years on Misty Mountain down Brown’s Road and in Deer Run outside of Van Buren; previously living in Michigan and Arkansas. She was united in marriage to James (Jim) Neil Pender on August 29, 1968. Together they had three children: Billie Pender, James (Charlie) and wife Tina Pender, and Virginia and husband Anthony Buffington of Van Buren; all of whom survive. Other survivors include son; Steve Jaco of Poplar Bluff, Mo., brother; Edmund Jaco of Paw Paw, Mich., sisters; Peggy Jenkins of Poplar Bluff, Betty-Sue Parish of Memphis, Tenn. and Shirley York of Poplar Bluff, grandchildren; AJ, Josh, Hunter, Tria, Skylar, Jake, Cierra, and Kierra, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Jim Pender and sister; Wanda Fredericks.

Those who knew Pat never had to guess what she was thinking and will always remember her quick-witted sense of humor, abundance of fishing advice, and wealth of knowledge regarding the development of Deer Run where she played an instrumental role. Pat especially enjoyed listening to Elvis, reminiscing with her friends and grandchildren; and collecting Waterford crystal, turquoise jewelry, and the heads of her enemies; namely bluegill and white-tailed bucks. Pat lived on the lake with her pet dogs where she was rarely seen during the summer time without a fishing pole in her hand and sore arms from setting the hook. Those long days often ended sharing her catch over a Cardinal’s game with her family.

Over the past two years, Pat exhibited a strength and endurance, as well as a faith in the Lord, which will forever be an inspiration to her friends and family who will miss her greatly.

A private graveside memorial is scheduled for March.
