DEXTER, Mo. - Nita (Danita) Arlene Ham Bedell was born in Poplar Bluff Missouri July 5, 1954, and passed away June 19, 2017 at her home in Houston, Texas.

Nita attended Dexter Public Schools, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 1985. Throughout her adult life, she resided in Sikeston, Missouri, Van Buren, Missouri and Houston Texas. Her professional career began in the financial industry, and most recently, she served as a logistics manager in the oil and gas industry.

She previously belonged to the Scott County Young Democrats organization in Sikeston, Missouri, various professional organizations and was a member of the St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff.

Survivors include two children, Shayne Horner of Malden, Missouri, and Jamee Gaines, Wynne, Arkansas; sisters, Vicki Bridges, Bloomfield, Missouri, and Denise Moline, Houston Texas; grandchildren, Jada Rose Gaines, Grand Island, Nebraska, and Lily Grace Gaines, Wynne, Arkansas; Shaylie Nichole Horner of Malden Missouri , and Cody Horner, great-grand daughter, Amber Horner, Dexter; five nephews and two nieces.

Preceding her in death were her father, Willie A Ham, granddaughter, Olivia Jane Gaines, her mother, Shirley Ham, and J Richard Bedell.

The family will be receiving guests at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24 at Southwest Church of the Nazarene, 801 Boucher St., Dexter, Missouri. A memorial service celebrating her life lead by Bill Burke will occur at noon, with dinner to follow.
