POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Mary Newman, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Westwood Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 28, 1935 in Kennett, Mo. to the late Charles A. Long and Opal Collins Long. Mary was a long time resident of Butler County. She was a member of the South Side Assembly of God Church.
She married Jessie L. Newman December 6, 1952 in Paragould, Ark. He preceded her in death.
Mary was a teacher’s aid at Poplar Bluff Jr. High School.
She is survived by three sons; Tim Newman of Ellisnore, Mo., Ted Newman of Poplar Bluff and Tom Newman of Doniphan, one daughter; Annete Stoker of Senath, Mo., one sister; June Pickens of Springfield, Mo., 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will start at 11 a.m.. at South Side Assembly of God Church. The funeral service will follow at noon. Rev. Mark McMinn and Rev. Randy Cowart, Ross Goins and Rev. Jerry Lemons will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens. Online condolences: www.fitchhillisfh.com
