POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Mary Helen Woodfin, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff. Helen, the daughter of the late Monroe and Nancie James Hindman, was born May 13, 1924 in Brownwood, Mo. She was a member of Bethel General Baptist Church in Advance and had retired from the Inland Shoe Company also in Advance. POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Mary Helen Woodfin, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Helen, the daughter of the late Monroe and Nancie James Hindman, was born May 13, 1924 in Brownwood, Mo. She was a member of Bethel General Baptist Church in Advance and had retired from the Inland Shoe Company also in Advance. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her Bible, gardening, cooking and sewing.

She married the love of her life and best friend, Leonard Lee Woodfin on Aug. 6, 1944 in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death in 2014.

Survivors include three children, Julia Lowe and her husband Stan of Gatlinburg, Tenn., John Woodfin and his wife Janice of Pearl River, La. and Jack Woodfin and his wife Judy of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Acord and LaVerne Ford both of Advance; and several nieces and nephews.

A daughter, JoAnn Rice and a brother, Lester Beal also preceded Helen in death.

Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. Her son, Jack Woodfin will officiate and Rev. Ernie Rodgers and Rev. Byron Beck will assist. Interment will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1630 W Elfindale St., Springfield, MO 65807-1286.
