Mary Margaret Freeman, 66, of Sikeston, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020.

She was born Sept. 4, 1954 in Laurel, Mississippi to the late John Willis Avary and Onnie Dell (Lowrimore) Avary. She was of the Episcopal faith.

She was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff. She received her nursing degree from Hines Junior College in Jackson, Mississippi. She worked as an oncology nurse in Jackson and was head nurse at Lakeview Hospital of Pawpaw, Mississippi. Mary enjoyed reading, cross stitching, watching a good Cardinals game and a nice cold Diet Coke.

Mary is survived by two sons, James Freeman (Anita) and Christopher Freeman, both of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Marlin Glen Avary (Rose) of Laurel, and John Avary of Long Beach, Mississippi; one sister, Delle Davis of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Logan Freeman (Samy) of Kansas City, Missouri and Zoë Jade Freeman of Poplar Bluff ;and one great-grandchild, Kaidan Freeman of Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020 at the Hampton Inn of Poplar Bluff. The family will be providing a main course and requests attendees to bring a favorite side dish. Social distancing and masks are recommended.
