RECTOR, Ark. - Marjorie Kitchens of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Jan. 1, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark. She was 95 years old. Born in 1922 to Royal and Mabel Brandon in Piggott, Ark, Mrs. Kitchens spent her early childhood near Greenway but moved and then graduated from Piggott High School. She worked in St. Louis all during WWII...

RECTOR, Ark. - Marjorie Kitchens of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Jan. 1, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark. She was 95 years old. Born in 1922 to Royal and Mabel Brandon in Piggott, Ark, Mrs. Kitchens spent her early childhood near Greenway but moved and then graduated from Piggott High School. She worked in St. Louis all during WWII

testing the motors that operated the gun turrets of the B-17 Bomber. She taught grade school in both Arkansas and Missouri for 16 years. In 1978 she married Jessie Kitchens and lived in Poplar Bluff until her death.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jessie in 2004 and her only sibling Janet Cox in 1999.

Mrs. Kitchens is survived by her nephew, David Cox and family of Ohio, her niece, Dana Ward of Tennessee, her niece by marriage Betsy Kitchens of Missouri and a number of cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at 9:30 am with the services beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Interment will be at the Piggott Cemetery.
