Marilyn L. Hopper, 81, of Wappapello, Missouri died Monday, Aug. 26, 2024 at home.
She was born Oct. 28, 1942 in Cape Girardeau to L.C. “Doc” and Vera L. Yarbro.
Marilyn is survived by two sons, Jimmie W. and Charles W. Heavener of Wappapello and Poplar Bluff; sister, Kay (Frank) Widdows; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne A. Hopper; daughter, Belinda K. Pohlman; son, Gary L. Heavener; twin sister, Carolyn Sue Yarbro; sister, Francis Fischer; brothers, Jimmy, Larry and Roger Yarbro; granddaughter, Brittany Pohlman; niece, Cindy Roubison; and nephew, Russell Yarbro.
Marilyn retired from Florsheim Shoe Company and moved to Wappapello to pursue her long-held dream of owning and operating her own family restaurant. During her 15 years of operation, “Marilyn’s Country Kitchen” became a favorite destination to locals and tourists at the lake.
Marilyn was of the Christian faith placing her eternal trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Friends may call 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024 at the funeral home with the Rev. Winferd Wren officiating.
The burial will be a private family service.
