Marjorie “Marge” Marie Armes, 89, of Poplar Bluff passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Westwood Hills Care Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Marge was born on Oct. 28, 1932, to H.L. and Lucille (Holland) Easley in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She married Robert “Bob” A. Armes on March 17, 1973, in Poplar Bluff.

Marge was raised on a family farm in Oglesville and worked hard from a young age. When she wasn’t helping her dad in the fields, she was helping her mother with the younger children. Although a hard worker, she found time for many solo adventures, running, and playing in the fields and woods.

She worked in the food industry and learned many culinary skills that prepared her for becoming a business owner later in life. She and husband Bob owned and operated Lonnie’s Restaurant in Poplar Bluff for many years. Marge was a wonderful cook and took pride in presenting an eye appealing plate. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved them all fiercely.

She raised her children to have a good work ethic, and to be courteous, kind and respectful. Marge had a light and funny side with a quick and funny wit. She was also a very good listener and always gave great advice to anyone in need. Marge attended Westwood Baptist Church until her health kept her away but remained true to her faith and her church. She spent her last five years living at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation where she made many friends. Marge was loved much by many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Marge is survived by six children, Pam (Fred) Bishop, Patti (Joe) Armes, Chelsea (Tim) Birch, Marilyn (Sean) Walsh, Sue Braden, and Johnny Armes; two sisters, Ruth James and Carol Mueller; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marge was preceded by her parents; first husband, Jerry Jones; second husband, Robert “Bob” Armes; three sons, Mike Jones, Dennis Jones, and Robert Armes; two sisters, Aileen Summers, and Sharon Hefner; one brother, Ray Easley.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 11:00am-12:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral will follow beginning at noon with Pastor Steve Proctor officiating.
