Lucy Ellen Pennington, 97, of Harviell, Missouri, passed away. Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born June 9, 1925, at Neelyville, Missouri, to the late Homer Delaney and Sarah Hanger.
On Feb. 1, 1941, she was married to Arvel Pennington at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 2007.
She is survived by her children: Charles Pennington and Frances, Gary Pennington and Pat, Thelma Dunlap, Mary Lou Moore and George, Tink Pennington and Ellen Shands; as well as 26 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; two children, Gene Pennington and Virginia Mae Pennington; one sister, Mary Wimberley; and four brothers, John, Aurthur, Robert and Toy.
She was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at Harviell. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, quilting, cooking, fishing and flowers, and liked to ride in her car.
Visitation will be start at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12. The funeral will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, in the Fowler and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery following the service. Brother Rodney Dunlap and Brother Ron Daughhettee will officiate.
