Lois Jean King, 89, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. King, the daughter of the late John and Vera V. Cline Schmitt, was born March 27, 1928 in St. Louis. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. King enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bridge and golf, cooking, painting, sewing and watching tennis matches on TV.
On May 22, 1949, she married the love of her life August C. King in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death, Oct. 19, 2003.
Survivors include four children: Holly J. (Les) Kingery and Jeffrey C. King of Poplar Bluff, Lisa L. (David) McMurray of Fairdealing and Amy K. (David) Richardson of St. Louis; and six grandchildren: Drew (Erica) Kingery, Mimi Kingery, Emma McMurray, Henry McMurray, Kevin McMurray and Charlie Richardson.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m. in the Chapel with Father William Hodgson serving as Celebrant.
