Lita S. Thornburgh, 93, of Patterson, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

She was born Sept. 7, 1927 in Zalma, Missouri, the daughter of Phynie Shirrell and Dovie (Hedrick) Shirrell. Lita was a 1945 graduate of Zalma High School and taught at the Jamison School in Bollinger County. She married Paul Thornburgh March 30, 1946 at Cape Girardeau. She lived in St. Louis for 35 years and worked in the office at International Shoe and Brown Shoe Company. Lita retired in 1980 and returned to Wayne County.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Phynie and Dovie Shirrell, her husband of 49 years, Paul Thornburgh, five brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Ron Thornburgh, Sr. and his wife, Ann, of Patterson, Ted Thornburgh, Sr. and his wife, Tricia, of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Judy Powell and her husband, Paul, of Zalma.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Ron Thornburgh, Jr., Darla and Bobby Rush, Ted Thornburgh, Jr., Jordan Thornburgh; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Justin, Nicholas, Emily, Brian, Bailey and Isabella; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A Graveside Memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel.
