WILLIAMSVILLE, Mo. -- Lillian W. (Fleigle) Becker, 88, of Williamsville, Mo., passed away on April 2, 2018 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
She was born Aug. 25, 1929 near Frostburg, Md. to the late Walter "Casey" and Flossie (Lehr) Fleigle. After graduating from Beall High School, she worked at the Frostburg State Teacher's College and later at the National Grange in Washington D.C.
Lil enjoyed square dancing which is how she met her future husband, William (Bill) Becker in College Park, Md.. After marrying, William got the opportunity to become a co-owner of Rolling Shoals Farm in Williamsville, where they spent the rest of their lives. They continued to square dance locally for many years at Keener Resort.
Lil's artistic abilities were evident in her calligraphy and paintings. She sang soprano for decades in the Williamsville United Methodist Church choir. Her infamous "Ma Becker Brownies" were enjoyed by many while she promised that all of the calories were baked out. Lil enjoyed traveling and exploring new places with family and friends and was able to experience many things including hot air balloon and glider rides. In later years became an even more avid reader and was one of Wayne County's Red Hatters. She served as an officer and board member in several organizations and was elected to the Greenville County R-II School Board (one of the first women on the board).
Lil was preceded in death by her husband Bill of 43 years, her parents Casey and Flossie (Lehr) Fleigle, brother Ronald Fleigle, daughter Janet Becker (Mark) Penn and son Shepard "Steven" (Hope) Becker.
Lil is survived by her sister, Virginia (Don) Moran; brother, Donald Fleigle; children, Susan Anastasia Becker (Robert Wilmsmeyer), David (Toni) Becker and Kenneth (Julie) Becker; grandchildren, Misty (Jason), John (Jessie), Leslie, Erika (Daniel), Alison (Justin), Luke, Connor, and Autumn; and great-grandchildren Becker, Erin, Ellie, Wesley, Douglas, and Valerie, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2018, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Williamsville. Celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Williamsville United Methodist Church.
