VAN BUREN — Lena Lorene Sanchez, daughter of the late Francis Nichols and Minnie (Potts) Nichols, was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Pyatt, Arkansas, and departed this life Oct. 3, 2020, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She had attained the age of 93 years, 11 months and 25 days.
Lena had lived in Poplar Bluff for the past 10 years and was formerly of Van Buren, Missouri. She was of the Southern Baptist faith and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. She was also a member of the Woman’s Missionary Union for many years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and bowling. Lena was a happy person, very caring and honest.
On Nov. 4, 1994, she was united in marriage to Ken Sanchez in Harrison, Arkansas.
Lena is survived by her husband, Ken Sanchez of Poplar Bluff; her son Nathan Hilterbrand of New York; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many family and friends who will mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Hilterbrand and her brother, Ralph Nichols.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, in the Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, with the funeral Services following at 12 p.m. in the church chapel. Rev. Steve Patterson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Van Buren.
