Deacon Larry Paul Williams, 64, of Poplar Bluff was called home Thursday, Aug 4, 2022.

Deacon Williams was born May 2, 1958, and was raised by his parents Vanndy and Melinda Williams who proceeded him in death.

Deacon Larry was a 1977 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School. Although he was known for his gentle demeanor, Larry soon joined the ranks of America’s brave and honorable fighting men and women, becoming a Navy officer between 1982-1987. Upon his return to civilian life, Deacon Williams served at the John J. Pershing VA Hospital.

Deacon Larry Williams was an especially humble, dedicated Christian man, and a staple at church events throughout Southeast Missouri for many years. He was a faithful member and served on the deacon board of True Believers M.B. Church, under the leadership of Bishop Johnny Williams, and was crowned deacon Aug 16, 2009. Deacon Williams also was a member of the Poplar Bluff Community Men’s Choir, and enjoyed testifying, singing, and leading devotions.

He married Minister Patricia Bell Sept 24, 2006; she proceeded him in death June 21, 2015.

Deacon Larry Paul Williams leaves behind a host of church family, family and friends, all of whom will forever cherish his precious memory.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The homegoing celebration begins at noon. There will then be military rites at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 15, 2022 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
