Larry “Gene” Hunsaker, 87, of Dexter, son of the late Newton Raymond and Annie Doublin Hunsaker, was born Sept. 23, 1932, and passed away at the Winchester Nursing Home, in Bernie, Jan. 30, 2020.
Larry “Gene” married Billie June Edwards Feb. 28, 1953 in Piggott, Ark.
He lived in the Dexter and Essex area all his life, and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated his own trucking company Hunsaker Trucking and was a member of the First Church Of God of Dexter.
Surviving are his wife, Billie June, of the home; five sons, Bobby Hunsaker of Michigan, Danny Hunsaker of West Plains, Mo., Ricky Hunsaker of Wappapello, Jeff Hunsaker of Huber Springs, Ark. and Mark Hunsaker of Perryville; three daughters, Charlotte Hunsaker of Dubois, Penn., Brenda Alcoser of San Antonio, Texas and Lorie Hunsaker of Jacksonville, Fla.; 29 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Hunsaker of Willard, Mo.; one sister, Glenda Fowler of Flint Michigan. Other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one daughter, Connie Hunsaker, one son, Terry Hunsaker, 10 brothers and sisters.
Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Leonard Madigan of Dexter officiating.
Interment followed in the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield with Full Military Honors. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
