NEELYVILLE, Mo- Juanita Viola Martin, 87, of Fairdealing, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Southeast Hospital. Mrs. Martin was born Sept. 28, 1929 in Miami, Fla. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed collecting whatnots, cookie jars, music boxes and snow globes. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Poplar Bluff.
On Dec. 23, 1946, Juanita married Shirley Ray Martin in Pocahontas, Ark. He preceded her in death, Nov. 19, 2014.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her children: William Larry Martin and Jerry Lee Martin, both of Fairdealing; Garry Albert Martin of Tuttle, Okla.; a brother, Ervin Gaines of N.C.; 13 grandchildren, 10 adopted grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Juanita was also preceded in death by two children: Tommy Ray Martin and Peggy "Sue" Martin; parents, Frank and Norma Gaines; as well as two brothers, Frank and Melvin Gaines.
Services will take place from noon - 1 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Poplar Bluff, with funeral following at 1 p.m., with Bishop Steve Richardson officiating. Burial will take place at Center Hill Cemetery.
