John Richard Riggins

John Richard Riggins, 78, of Gulfport, Miss., formerly of Williamsville, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport, Miss. He was born June 24, 1941 in Williamsville, to Alma Vestine Goforth Riggins and the late Kenneth Arthur Riggins. He was of the Pentecost faith and a member of the Cornerstone Tabernacle Church.

John married Margaret Nell Dempsey in Williamsville, December 29, 1961. She survives.

He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967. He had reached the rank of sargeant.

Surviving besides his wife and mother are two sons, Kenneth Riggins (Virginia) of Memphis, Tenn. and Steven Riggins (Linda) of Festus, Mo.; one daughter, Elisabeth Riggins of Gulfport, Miss.; two brothers, James Riggins (Edith) of Oran, Mo. and Paul Riggins (Julie) of Perryville, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Millie Riggins; four sisters, Mary Riggins, Martha Riggins, Elaine Riggins all of Perryville, Mo. and Rebecca Roberts (Michael); 11 Grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon - 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. The Rev. Bill Parkey will officiate.
