Joe Stanley Green, 74, of O’Fallon, Mo., departed this life Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born March 20, 1945 in Ponder, Mo., to the late John and Cloyce (Staten) Green.
Stanley worked for Operators Union Local 513 and retired after 35 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, listening to country and gospel music, and spending time with family and friends. He was also a huge St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Stanley always had a smile and a hug for his family and friends, and his pleasant demeanor and great sense of humor were definitely the reasons he was known as a gentle giant.
Mr. Green married Princess Nee McMunn. She survives.
Also surviving are his son, Victor J. Green of O’Fallon; a daughter, Rebel (Ron) Mead of Wentzville, Mo.; a stepson, Jerry Carpenter of Osceola, Wis.; two sisters, Ramona Griffin of Doniphan and Betty (Jack) Kernodle of Gatewood, Mo.; as well as 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding Stanley in death was a sister, Lavena Hitt.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
