Joe Huntley Davidson, long time resident of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away peacefully on Jan. 23, 2018 at the age of 90.
He was born in Springfield, Mo. to Minerva Huntley Davidson and Vern Davidson. Joe graduated from Springfield High School. He attended Southwest Missouri State University until drafted into the Army during WWII. He proudly served as a Paratrooper in the 674th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion.
After his military service, he married the love of his life, Charlene Newman, on Feb. 10, 1951. They were married for 64 years. Charlene preceded him in death on March 13, 2015. Joe was with McCroy Company for 45 years and managed the Newberry Store at the Valley Plaza in Poplar Bluff, from 1971 until 1995.
Survivors include three children, Debbie Woodruff (Woody), Sonia Joseph (John), and David Davidson (Betsy), five grandchildren, Brian Verdier (Amber), Jennifer Verdier Willis (Mike), Tyler Davidson, Parker Davidson, and Bailey Davidson, as well as five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Bryce, Brynleigh, Oaklyn, and Conway.
There will be a graveside memorial service for family and friends, which will be announced at a later date.
