Jimmie Chester Brooks, 81, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Feb. 18, 2020, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 19, 1938, in Doniphan, Mo. to the late Chester Brooks and Essie Drowns Brooks.
He is survived by his children, Raymond Patrick Brooks and Tiffany of Jackson, Mo., and Patty Massey and John of Cottonwood Falls, Kans.; one sister; Shirley Wallace of Harrisburg, Ark., as well as four brothers; Dickie Brooks and Ira A. Brooks, both of Puxico, Mo., Rodney Brooks of New London, Mo. and Donnie Brooks of Harrisburg, Ark.. He is also survived by is grandchildren; Lee Magee, Walter and Nicholas Haskin and Lillith Brooks. He is also survived by the mothers of his children; Trudy Brooks and Karen Brooks, as well as a special friend, Verneal White.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well, as one son, Jimmie Ray Brooks.
Jimmie had served in the United States Navy and a member of American Legion. He had been the owner and operator of Brooks Electric in Iowa, and He had been a electrician foreman for P & G. He enjoyed hunting, shooting pool, re-modeling house and working with his hands. He was a member of the Rythm-Aires music group and had played in the band Rebel Rousers.
Visitation will be from 5- 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, in the Fowler and Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville, Mo. with the funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 starting in the Chapel. Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery following service with full military rites.
