POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Jean Stroud, 95, of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, entered her eternal home Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019 in Florissant.
Jean, the daughter of the late William and Lucy Vinson Davis, was born May 20, 1923 in Butler County, Mo. She was a member of Midland Street Church. Jean worked at Joe Warbington’s Bargain Barn and later as owner and operator of Davis Cafe on Ditch Road in Poplar Bluff. Jean enjoyed her church, quilting, crocheting and watching television. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and being a Christian role model and witness for them.
Jean married the love of her life Herman Eugene Stroud on April 13, 1940, in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1999.
Survivors include two children, Bill Stroud of Florissant and Sandra Corso of Roseville, Calif.; four grandchildren, Anjanette Corso of San Diego, Calif., Terry Stroud of Troy, Mo., Chad Stroud of St. Peters, Mo., and Kevin Corso of Roseville, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Corso, Mandy Stroud, Carrie Stroud, Kristy Stroud, Devon Stroud, Quinn Stroud, Serin Stroud, Aiden McCarthy.
Jean was also preceded in death by a grandson Billy Keith Stroud, two brothers, George and Ralph Davis and five sisters, Murel Pogue, Verl Worley, Lucille Whitmer, Mary Boyers and Geneva Jeffries.
Visitation has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. The Rev. Rick White will officiate. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley.
