James Vernon Faughn, 77, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018 peacefully in his home in Poplar Bluff, surrounded by his wife, daughters, and many loved ones. James Vernon Faughn, 77, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018 peacefully in his home in Poplar Bluff, surrounded by his wife, daughters, and many loved ones.

Jim was born on June 22, 1941 in Cardin, Oklahoma to John Faughn and Emma Jane Frizell. In 1970, he met the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Bonnie Gilton Faughn. Together they had two daughters, Tina Faughn Almond and her husband Todd of Memphis, Tenn., and Tasha Faughn Abney and her husband Tom of Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was a very proud grandpa to Thomas James Abney of Poplar Bluff, Mo. He also had a very special place in his heart for Kim Willoughby of the home.

Jim was a member of Living Word Baptist Church. He loved wood working and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and watching sports.

He never met a stranger and loved talking, telling stories, and visiting with family and friends. Words just can't express what a special person he was to everyone who knew him.

Jim is also survived by two brothers, Danny Faughn of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Jesse Faughn of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; nine sisters, Louise Faughn of Kansas City, Kan.; Patsy Wininger of McCune, Kan.; Ruth Ann Carlyle of Piedmont, S.C.; Doris Vandiver of Florence, Ala.; Martha Eldridge (Lonny) of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; Judy Wilcutt of Bowling Green, Ky.; Mary Jo Park of Vero Beach, Fla.; Wilma Clayton of Cleveland, Tenn.; Susan Feagan of Springfield, Mo. and many other cherished family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnny Faughn and William Englerth.

Visitation for family and friends was held Sunday, Aug. 5, at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral services was Monday at the chapel with the Rev. Donnie Emmons officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
