FISK, Mo. — James “Junior” Calvin Patterson, 92, of Gideon, Missouri, formerly of Poplar Bluff, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021 at Gideon Care Center, in Gideon.
Mr. Patterson was born May 21, 1929 in Fisk, son of the late Jesse Ernest and Bertie Mae Patterson. James loved flower gardening and spending time outdoors enjoying the fruits of his labor. He could often be found sitting outside on his deck eating tomatoes off his tomato plants and reading the newspaper.
On March 10, 1960 he married Jeanette Brown in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2017. He is survived by one daughter: Amy Montgomery of Poplar Bluff; one son, Mark (Davona) Patterson of Olive Branch, Mississippi; five grandchildren: James Calvin (Angel) Patterson II, Randi (Ian) Montgomery, Madison (Peyton) Stone, Ricki Montgomery, and Reed Montgomery; and four great-grandchildren: Addisyn, Savannah, Emberly, and Emersyn. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his eight siblings.
There will be a gathering of family and friends beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev Jim Sanders officiating. A graveside service will be held at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, with full military honors.
