James (JR) Neal

DONIPHAN — James R. (J.R.) Neal, 90 year old resident of Doniphan, departed this life Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019 in Doniphan. Mr. Neal was born May 15, 1929 in Braggadocio, Mo. to the late Robert A. and Nancy Glidewell Neal. He was a cabinet maker and loved tractors, music and spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of the Fairview General Baptist Church.

On Oct. 11, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he was married to Nevada Evelyn Orick, who preceded him in death Sept. 12, 2017.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters, Imogene Wheeler and Ruby Roy and brothers, Joe Edward and William Bud Neal.

Surviving are children, Linda Kay Smith and Stephanie (Dale) Epstein both of Doniphan, James Elroyce (Debbie) Neal of Bloomfield, Mo. and Lonnie Joe (Patty) Neal of Garwood, Mo.; his sisters, Mary (Paul) Starnes of Malden and Sue Ross of Portageville, Mo.; grandchildren, Amy Manning, Jamie Neal, Mandy Mooney, Jason Neal, Brandon Neal, Austin Neal, Cody Neal, Josh White, Hannah Epstein, Zack Epstein, Tyler Struyk, Larry Struyk and Alleesha Gloyd and 27 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donnie Sanford officiating. Burial will be in the Bernie Cemetery, Bernie, Mo.
