VAN BUREN, Mo. -- James "Jim" Lee Dougherty, 74, son of the late James Elijah and Alpha (Hillis) Dougherty, was born Sept. 26, 1943 in Williamsville, Mo., and departed this life on March 25, 2018 at his residence in Van Buren, Mo., surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren...

VAN BUREN, Mo. -- James "Jim" Lee Dougherty, 74, son of the late James Elijah and Alpha (Hillis) Dougherty, was born Sept. 26, 1943 in Williamsville, Mo., and departed this life on March 25, 2018 at his residence in Van Buren, Mo., surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.

Jim had resided in Van Buren since 1974 and was formerly of Florissant, Mo. He was of the Christian faith. Some of Jim's favorite things included: crossword puzzles, fishing, music, and playing the guitar. Jim was also a huge Cardinal's fan. He loved his family and spending time with them. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. Jim was known to many as Yahoo, for the fun-loving shout he would make to let all know he was happy, excited and enjoying sporting events celebrating his grandkids' success.

On March 22, 1969, he was united in marriage to Jane Chilton-Dougherty in Bonne Terre, Mo. She survives of the home.

Jim is survived by two sons, Todd James Dougherty and wife, Missy, and Shawn Michael Dougherty and wife, Shelley, all of Van Buren, Mo.; nine sisters, Juanita Tatham and husband, Joe, AnnaBelle Anderson, Helen Dirck, Virginia Greene, Della Blecha, Patricia Anderson and husband, Dean, Freda Davis, Beverly Hake and husband, Larry, and Doris Lehmann and husband, Ron; two brothers, William Dougherty and wife, Nancy, and Malcom Dougherty and wife, Anna; his beloved Aunt Dot; three grandchildren Hailee Briann Dougherty, Wyatt James Dougherty and Corbin Michael Dougherty and many relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by one sister, Alpha Bilbrey.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, followed by the celebration of life at 11 a.m. at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren. Officiating: Rev. Bruce Hawkins and Rev. Jim Chilton
