GREENVILLE, Mo. — James L. Groves, 75, of Greenville, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Greenville Health Care Center in Greenville, Missouri.

He was born June 22, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Virgil Groves and Alta Mae (Dickerson) Groves. He was married to Glenda Daves Romine and she preceded him in death. He was married to Jane Bartch May 27, 1988 at Greenville and was a long time resident of Wayne County. Jim worked as a logger and had attended the Shiloh Baptist Church near Shook.

Preceding him in death are his parents,; one son, Bobby Groves; four stepchildren, John Romine, Earl Thomas Bartch, Emmett Taylor Bartch and Elmer Timothy Bartch; as well as two sisters, Peggy Purl and Betty Galmore.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Groves, of the home; one son, Terry Groves and his wife Ronda, of Greenville; three stepchildren, Brenda Romine of Poplar Bluff, Tenna Libla and her husband Bill, of Greenville, Norma Fay McCoy and her husband James of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery near Shook.
