James Albert Carr, 97, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Carr was born June 11, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of the late Ralph and Irena Carr (neé Gibson). He owned and operated Carr’s Bargain Barn from 1962 until 1974.

On April 30, 1954, he married Anna Woodall Carr. She preceded him in death Aug.12, 2005. He is survived by two children, Jimmie D. (Lori) Carr of Gray, Georgia, and Deborah L. (Stacey) Ward of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Patrick Carr, René Carr, Laura Arnold, and Ethan Ward; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan and Savanna Carr, and Halston and Brooks Arnold. In addition to his parents and wife, James was also preceded in death by two brothers: Bill Carr and Irvin Carr.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Vernon Curry officiating. Burial will be at the Qulin Cemetery with full military honors.
