James Burris

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — James Burris, 81, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his home.

He was born July 2, 1937 to the late William and Vernice Burris.

He served in the United States Air Force from Feb. 2, 1955 until Dec. 20, 1957.

He was married to Mary Webb, who preceded him in death. Surviving are one daughter, Kim Peterson of Poplar Bluff; one grandson, Cory Hawse (Jaime); and two great-granddaughters of St. Louis. He is also survived by six sisters, Doris Whittle, Eunice Joiner, Kathleen Battles, Joyce Sue Ray, Emma Lou Mattingly and Jeanie Wheeler; and one brother Charles Burris.

Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Helen Galones and Naomi Burris.

Services were provided by Fowler Sullivan Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. The burial was held April 18 in the Poplar Bluff Cemetery.
