Jackie Moore, 66, of Poplar Bluff passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 in Poplar Bluff.
She was born Jan. 11, 1951 in Memphis, Tenn., to Jack and Ruth Trammel. Jackie grew up in Wilson, Ark., and graduated from Wilson High School in 1969. She obtained her Bachelor's in Elementary Education from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark. While living in Conway the southern belle met a long haired hippy disc jockey named Charlie Moore from Naylor. When Jackie introduced her boyfriend to her father . . . well, you can imagine how that went! Regardless of several attempts and bribes from her father, Charlie and Jackie were married July 7, 1973 in Wilson, Ark. Worth . . . noting, by the time of her father's death, after 20 years, three college degrees, two grandchildren and one long-needed haircut, Charlie was almost worthy of Jack's daughter.
She retired from the Neelyville School system after 34 years. She began as a kindergarten, first, and second grade teacher at Coon Island and shortly after was moved to Neelyville where she taught kindergarten for 30 years. She spent her final couple of years as the Parents As Teachers coordinator for the school district. She considered every child that she had in school to be a son or daughter and followed each of them through school and adulthood. Most recently, as everyone knows, she was very active on Facebook which brought their world to her when she couldn't get to them anymore.
She was an avid band mother to Chuck and his friends, basketball mother to Andy and his friends, and supported her sons through their careers and finally becoming proud of them when they gave her the daughters and grandchildren that she always wanted.
More than anything Jackie loved her grandchildren and supporting them in all their activities ranging from athletics, academics, and doing her hair, nails, and make-up more times than anyone can count.
Jackie is survived by the taller half of the greatest parental tag team the world has ever seen; a husband that any true Southern Belle would tell you makes Rhett Butler seem like a sharecropper - Charlie Moore; her favorite son, Chuck and Alyssa Moore, and her other favorite son, Andy and Mandy Moore, all of Poplar Bluff; her four grandchildren: Lily Moore, Rachel Butler, Jackson Moore, and Maclaren Moore; two brothers: Clint Trammel of Atlanta, Ga. and Gene Trammel of Searcy, Ark.; her in-laws: Anna Mary and Charles Sebourn of Doniphan and Dennis and Dixie Moore of St. Louis; her adopted sons: Corey Crutchfield, Darrell Norris, Jason Scott, Mark Acre, Brad Rayburn, Lonnie Lewis, and Justin Sanders; and hundreds of other sons and daughters that came through the Neelyville School System.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jana Trammel: and one sister-in-law, Mary Trammel.
Visitation will start at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at the Naylor City Cemetery. Everyone will be meeting at Moore Funeral Service at 9 a.m. to drive in procession to the cemetery.
