Irving Lowell Lewis, 69, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 at Piggott Community Hospital. He was born on Jan. 15, 1949 to Lonnie and Olivia (Shaw) Lewis in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1968. He attended college in Jefferson City and then was drafted in 1970 by the United States Army and served in Vietnam. ...

Irving Lowell Lewis, 69, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 at Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 15, 1949 to Lonnie and Olivia (Shaw) Lewis in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1968. He attended college in Jefferson City and then was drafted in 1970 by the United States Army and served in Vietnam. Irving retired from CTA in Chicago as a Supervisor. He has a member of Mt. Calvary Power House Church in Poplar Bluff and loved his church family.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and wearing fine clothes. Irving will be remembered by his sense of humor, joking around, and speaking his mind. He was the Playa Playa from the Himalayas. Most of all he loved his family.

Irving is survived by his four children, Jeff Gipson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Aaron (Sonia) England of SC, Shanna (Greg) Thornton of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Scott (Alanna) Gipson of Olathe, Kan.; six grandchildren, Kierra Thornton, Jaleel Gipson, Justin Gipson, Erin England, Jordan Gipson, and Svannah Gipson; nine sisters, Barbara Williams of Killeen, Texas, Gerry Rigney of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Angela (Trent Stewart) Cabot of Colorado Springs, Colo., Earleta Shaw of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Gail Fisher of South Carolina, Gerry Brown, Brenda Blackman, Alvrina Hailey, and Alesia Jordan all of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Wesley (Jacqueline) Lewis of Poplar Bluff, MOo.; his girlfriend, Lisa Samonte; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his biological father, Ben Jordan; and two brothers, Cedric and Lonnie B. Lewis.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 from 11 a.m. - noon at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Funeral Services will be immediately following visitation at noon in the Moore Service Chapel with Bishop Ronnie Webb officiating. Burial will take place in the Morocco Cemetery.
